Friday Morning Prayer (June 26)
Daily Morning Prayer
Officiant | Lord, open our lips. |
People | And our mouth shall proclaim your praise. |
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as
it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia
Jubilate Psalm 100
Be joyful in the Lord, all you lands; *
serve the Lord with gladness
and come before his presence with a song.
Know this: The Lord himself is God; *
he himself has made us, and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise; *
give thanks to him and call upon his Name.
For the Lord is good;
his mercy is everlasting; *
and his faithfulness endures from age to age.
Psalm 137:1-6
1 | By the waters of Babylon we sat down and wept, * when we remembered you, O Zion. |
2 | As for our harps, we hung them up * on the trees in the midst of that land. |
3 | For those who led us away captive asked us for a song, and our oppressors called for mirth: * "Sing us one of the songs of Zion." |
4 | How shall we sing the LORD'S song * upon an alien soil? |
5 | If I forget you, O Jerusalem, * let my right hand forget its skill. |
6 | Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, * if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy. |
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Matthew 8:1-4
When Jesus had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him; 2 and there was a leper who came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you choose, you can make me clean.” 3 He stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I do choose. Be made clean!” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
The Prayers
Officiant | The Lord be with you. |
People | And also with you. |
Officiant | Let us pray. |
Our Father, who art in heaven, A Collect for Fridays Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on |
Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen.
Thanks be to God.
