Easter Thursday Morning Prayer
Daily Morning Prayer
| Officiant | Lord, open our lips. |
| People | And our mouth shall proclaim your praise. |
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as
it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Christ our Passover
1 Corinthians 5:7-8; Romans 6:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:20-22
Alleluia.
Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us; *
therefore let us keep the feast,
Not with old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, *
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Alleluia.
Christ being raised from the dead will never die again; *
death no longer has dominion over him.
The death that he died, he died to sin, once for all; *
but the life he lives, he lives to God.
So also consider yourselves dead to sin, *
and alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord. Alleluia.
Christ has been raised from the dead, *
the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For since by a man came death, *
by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, *
so in Christ shall all be made alive. Alleluia.

Psalm 114
1 Hallelujah!
When Israel came out of Egypt, *
the house of Jacob from a people of strange speech,
2 Judah became God's sanctuary *
and Israel his dominion.
3 The sea beheld it and fled; *
Jordan turned and went back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
*
and the little hills like young sheep.
5 What ailed you, O sea, that you
fled? *
O Jordan, that you turned back?
6 You mountains, that you skipped
like rams? *
you little hills like young sheep?
7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence
of the Lord, *
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 Who turned the hard rock into a
pool of water *
and flint-stone into a flowing spring.
When Israel came out of Egypt, *
the house of Jacob from a people of strange speech,
and Israel his dominion.
Jordan turned and went back.
and the little hills like young sheep.
O Jordan, that you turned back?
you little hills like young sheep?
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
and flint-stone into a flowing spring.
At the end of the Psalms is sung or said
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Luke 24:36b-48
Jesus stood
among the disciples and said to them, "Peace be with you." They were
startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost. He said to
them, "Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a
ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." And when he
had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. While in their joy they
were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, "Have you anything
here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and
ate in their presence.
Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you
while I was still with you-- that everything written about me in the law of
Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened
their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, "Thus it is
written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third
day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his
name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these
things."
The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth;
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Officiant and People
| Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. V. Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance; R. Govern and uphold them, now and always. V. Day by day we bless you; R. We praise your name for ever. V. Lord, keep us from all sin today; R. Have mercy upon us, Lord, have mercy. V. Lord, show us your love and mercy; R. For we put our trust in you. V. In you, Lord, is our hope; R. And we shall never hope in vain. A Prayer for Thursday in Easter Week
Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery
established the new covenant of
reconciliation: Grant that all who have been
reborn into the fellowship of Christ's Body may
show forth in their lives what
they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives
and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

59. For Quiet Confidence
O God of peace, you have taught us that in returning and
rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be
our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray,
to your presence, where we may be still and know that you
are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be
our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray,

Then may be said
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
