Our Trip to the Holy Land
April 28 - May 10, 2019
You hear about a place all of your life, study it in seminary, preach and teach Sunday School for

Caesarea in Galilee behind us |
almost 30 years - and then you see it. I stood in Israel on places where we know in all certainty that Jesus actually stood, sat, and knelt as He told the people that God loves them. Over 70% of Jesus's time was spent along 9 miles of shoreline on the Sea of Galilee and we have seen it during the first 2 days of our trip. You think you may know how you will feel - I did - and I was wrong. It was powerful and overwhelming and amazing. We all know that pictures say a thousand words. I will try to give you lots of pictures and as few words as possible.
Quick Note - we are always at the mercy of the internet it seems - which was out last night - so I didn't get to post this entry until Wednesday morning.
Arriving in Tel Aviv

We arYou won't find Tel Aviv in the Bible because it's not there. It was founded in 1909 as a suburb of the port city of Jaffa which is where King David and King Solomon brought in the cedars of Lebanon to build the Temple in Jerusalem.
We stayed in the Carelton Hotel which is the first building on the left. We took these pictures from the marina. About 1.2 million people live in the metro area which is the business center of Israel.
It was a 10-hour flight from JFK Airport in New York City and Israeli time is 8 hours ahead of Birmingham.

Day 2 - Caesarea and Galilee
The was our first full day in Israel and we headed north to the ancient port city of Caesarea. On Google Maps, find Tel Aviv and head north on Highway 2. Built by Herod the Great in 20-10 BCE. It is massive for Roman times and was about as big as downtown Tuscaloosa.
